I had to look up Newry. It's in what they call "western Maine".

Derry is New Hampshire, Jack.
You get more of John Irving than Stephen King there.
Stephen King lives up near Mister G. Littlefield.

And I've already driven by his house, too. 
Derry is Stephen King's fictional town in Maine where things seem to go wrong most of the time. According to the map on his website, it appears to be a little NW of the town I live in right now (Hermon).
I doubt he would come up with something as gorey as what happened out west, though. The stuff I've read of his is more horror of the mind.
