My goal for next year is to throw away all the fluff and bull, keeping only the basics.

"If I do 25 sessions per day, 8 days a week, 53 weeks a year then I can make a living!"

BASICS - YOU and me as professional voiceoverists are not and were never intended to work all the time. So set a minimum fee for which you will work, do that 3 times per week, 46 weeks per year and live your life. If you get more, hoorah! Factor in repeats, renewals and residuals. Why? BECAUSE you are supposed to factor them in and the people who buy the right to use your work are supposed to pay them.

That's it! Work goal for 2015. In my case the numbers are (minimum fee to earn per working day) 400 British pounds, 500 Euro or 600 dollars. The end, nothing more, nothing less.

I may choose to do other things but my job, my c'reer, my business MY WAY OF PAYING THE BILLS does not (should not and MUST not) depend on them.

I do not need to compete. One me, hire me or don't.
I do not need to be accredited.
I do not need to be rigorously examined by my peers.
I do not need to held aloft through the streets of Budleigh Salterton
I do not need to be taught how to take my c'reer to the next level
I do not need a bigger mic, a longer lead, a more digital pre, a lower floor or a higher ceiling.
I do not need to tell other VO people what I'm doing (network)
I do not need to share my knowledge (brag)
I do not need to share my ignorance (coach)
I do not need to seek the approval or otherwise of other VO people.

You do not ..see above, either!

2015 - Eyes wide open. I may choose to do certain things but will always know that I am fooling myself if I say "this will benefit my business"

Rely on one thing in 2015 - Back to Basics.

Some of the people I love most dearly are VO people or associated with VO work. I DO NOT love them because they are VO people or associated with VO work I simply met them as a result of my job and for that I remain truly grateful.

If you are loved and know that you are loved you have all you need.

Amen on this, brother.. I'm getting more and more the sense that those that are eager to offer the "secret" to the next level, never themselves got to the next level..

Phillip, as I sit and ponder what in the world I need to do, you have answered it here. Is there a charge for this lesson?
