Catherine Cavadini has a 6-week animation workshop with Nick Omaha coming later this month here in L.A. Has anyone studied with them before, or heard anything good or bad?

Related question: does anyone feel strongly about one-on-one coaching vs group workshops? Money issues aside, one-on-one seems more beneficial on the surface, but workshops offer a learn-from-others'-mistakes benefit. Curious what you all think.

I've done one-on-one coaching and would do it again. I like to have the coach's sole attention. I also recently participated in a workshop for a group and loved that as well. It was limited to 10 people only though, so everyone got mic time.

I think you could probably do both.

For animation I recommend group workshops. If there are 10 in the class, and each student has a different character to work on, if each student is smart they should pay close attention to each student/character and take with them every nuance, vocal choice, and teacher's adjustment(s). Including the character you are working on, you will leave with 9 more as well. You just get more bang for the buck in group animation workshops. One on one is great when coaching for an upcoming audition.

Now, that's just my opinion. Do both! Take a workshop, coach one on one. Only you will know what's best for you.

Thank you! Mr. Bergen, especially, whose workshop I'd kill to take, but will have to wait a while, apparently!

But I gotcha on my wait list. Thanks for the email. Also look into Richard Horvitz, Charlie Adler, and Mick Wingert. All outstanding. B

Seems like groups would be better since you would have a chance to react and act with others to develop character.

I agree with Eddie because of the networking aspect.

Plus groups help one get over any self-consciousness about performing before a group.
