I will quite literally raise a glass for Douglas this evening, to celebrate a man's last days being brief but singularly memorable and moving. Best to you and yours, Phillip.

Thank you doesn't really cover it. But from my heart and soul, sincerest thanks.

To Allen. True friends are hard to find so my deepest sympathy for having one less in your life.

Eternal rest grant unto them, 0 Lord.

And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

For your loss on this day, we all carry a heavy heart for you and your family.

I don't really know you very well yet Philip having only just met on another discussion forum some days ago, however, having followed you to this website and read your post, I wanted to offer my condolensces along with all the other good people here.

Like many others' stories, I lost my mother-in-law to breast cancer (third re-occurance in 30 years) some 18 months ago after caring for her in my home. She too was relieved of any final pain and her memory lives on in so much that we do as a family (especially as we still have my father-in-law living with us now).

My sincerest wishes to you and your family for strength and unity at this time.

"Blessed release" is how hubby and I viewed it when Mom passed from cancer three years ago. We all had to fight the med folks all the way in their eagerness for pointless painful interventions (though hospice was marvellous in the last 36 hours). Mom's last six months were lemons made into lemonade.

Peace to you and your family, Banksey....
