|
|
I'm trying to figure out some budgetary and scheduling things and was wondering if anyone knew when APAC was this year and how much is it for a VO to attend? I'd like to try to make it work within the budget and all. But with several things pulling at my purse strings, not to mention some workshops and coaches seeming to think VO's are now made of money!, I have to carefully figure out what I can afford. Thanks! _________________ Pam Tierney

The 2014 Audio Publishers Association Conference (APAC) will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Javits Center, followed by the 19th Annual Audies Gala and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 29, 2014. I believe you need to be a member of APA to attend (150 bucks for Narrator). They will be posting details on event fees soon. More info at http://www.audiopub.org.
Even though BEA and APAC are held at same time they are different events and not related other than having publishing and books in common. Some people who attend APAC take a tour of BEA but it is very time consuming...most attend APAC, a few put out the bucks to attend the Audies Gala. _________________ jonahcummings |

Pam,
To add to what Jonah mentioned regarding dates and membership of the APA to attend, as I recall it was around $400 to attend APAC last year, and another $400 to attend the Audies. (The Naudies, on the other hand, were whatever you wanted to buy at the bar and restaurant.) _________________ Be well,

Wait, are the Naudies the same night as the gala? So I should plan on 2 days there right? _________________ Pam Tierney

Pam,
Yes, plan to be there 2 days. The Naudies are same time as the Audies, the evening of the day after APAC, or in this case May 29th. _________________ Be well,

I usually shoot for 3 days. There's always a mixer the night before the conference, so I'll fly in that day, conference the next day (and there's usually a party that night), then do something cultural the next day before audies/naudies.
See ya there! _________________ Adam

Yep, I'll be there, too! And seriously, skip the Audie's. Unless you're nominated for something, there's little reason to go and the Naudies are much more fun. _________________ Jeff

In fact... at last year's APAC, The Naudies were the only thing I DID make!
... and I certainly had fun _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Is it good for business or just a good thing to do? As many of you know, I attend VOX every year, it makes no commercial sense for me but it's wonderful to catch up with friends and colleagues. |

And the Naudies are the de-facto after party for the Audies anyway. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
