Recently I was asked advise on tips with posting demos on the internet. I was so impressed with them; I'm sharing (this is what happens when you get old).

1. Have your name recorded (slated) at the top of each demo. Have somebody of the opposite sex do the slating. Personally, I like a Brit Chick to do it. I have no idea why. Perhaps it lends me the little class I never achieved.

2. When you title your mp3s to be posted, have your name in the title. When casting agents download demos, they often are downloading several. Your name needs to be there. For example, fraleychar.mp3

Cool, huh? PF

Very Cool!

I also make sure that my name and phone number are in the MP3 Title info.
That's the little bit of text that shows up when the MP3 is playing--different from the filename.

You're so way more hip on this than I am. One more tip from a Luddite: Don't have the filename too long. If so, the extention can be lost. Then you will need a paddle to get back from "Up Creek." PF

Ditto on using the embedded info. I even include my site's URL in the "comments" section.

If I could add a 3rd (from a tech geek)...

3. No spaces in the filename. This may be a bit of archaic way of thinking since most web server platforms support filenames WITH spaces, but there are a few platforms that still hiccup a bit or will add a lovely “%20” to the filename. Dashes (-) and underscores (_) are still ok.

AMEN MY BROTHER.

I coudn't agree more.
Spaces make a colossal mess for some browsers.

Compact the words, eliminate the spaces, keep the filename short!

I have to keep a separate file naming for English submissions (especially urban) through a 3rd party because the "Mendez" already has them hearing things that aren't really there. So I put Anthony M.
