I did a google and a VO-BB search on the pay to play sites to see what people thought.
I've never used one but I've heard great things from some friends about VO Planet. then I read some horrible things here.

I have contacted Donna Summer (not the disco singer who passed away - that would be silly!). I told her who I was and what I wanted and she was positive. Of course, since I have to pay to play, why wouldn't she be?

It seemed that most of the threads on these outfits were a little dated. I am curious to see what you guys are thinking about them now. I know some actors who are doing very well with them. I'm working on some new demos and I plan to get into other areas besides audiobooks and vo commercials so I was thinking that investing a little money and some time in one of these sites would be a smart call. Am I right? and which site seems to be the best?

I've been told that VO Planet has fewer auditions but better money - more of a boutique site. Vocies 123 and voices.com seem about the same to me. And I think there's a voices unlimited and some others as well. Anybody have any advice they can share? I'd appreciate it.

I'd say, read the archives and don't start another P2P thread. There's been blood recently.

Johnny, if you're going to be at the APAC NY mixer on the 5th, we can talk about it afterwards if you like... this time my back won't be killing me so I'll actually be able to sit and share a Guinness Smile

Mel will be there, and she has opinions as well, so we can dish the dirt in private... and there's a lot of dirt to dish Smile

Oh, and if you searched for the right keywords and came up with lots of info, but were wondering if anything has changed?

Nothing has.

"pay to play" site:vo-bb.com

Use this search term and you'll come up with all reference to "pay to-play" on this board.

And for the most part— as all here have said—the bouquets and brickbats are still valid.

You might also find more by using these search terms too (some of us hate saying them by name):

I have found this incredibly helpful. Especially the sticky. It ate my morning, but, man, was it useful.

I've been buying from Cavenders online ever since Kara took me to a Dallas Cavenders when I was in that city a few years ago. But I had to buy in person - to add to my - ahem - somewhat large collection.

In my defense, cowboy boots are the most comfortable shoes on the planet. If they're quality boots and sized right. I totally defend my right to wear them in NYC or ANYWHERE.

I defend my right to wear whatever I want in NYC, as a matter of fact.

so there.

Yeah... but you're pushing the point with that Elmo suit though Mel.
