Do you have one? Would you let us hear it?
A few years ago I was at a studio doing a TV commercial for a car company. The director heard a particular characteristic in my voice and asked if I could sound a bit "Nightmare on Elm Street". My response was "no idea". So we agreed to experiment after we'd finished the car ad'.
We played around with some sounds and the net result was me coming back to the studio to voice a TV campaign for a new ride at a theme park.
Hearing the commercial still makes me grin.

Funny... you don't sound from Port Gordon But that's exactly what a theme park ride spot should sound like... LOL - good job! Must've been fun that one.
I did a Santa Fe salsa TV spot tag that still makes me grin, because the guys asked for "Sam Elliot" but in Spanish. I never got a copy of that spot - it's the one where all the cacti hijack the delivery truck full of Santa Fe Salsa.
Here are the raw takes (don't think I came close - uh - because at the time... i uh - don't hit me - didn't know who Sam Elliot was... oops - it aired anyway).
I also don't know which take they used, since I never caught the spot in Spanish. That one was funny, because it was so short, but I never let on to not knowing who Sam was, so it felt like 5 hours in the booth - LOL.

I had an agency contact me through a colleague to be a Circus Barker. I thought it’d be fun.
When I got the script, it turns out the part was for a chain of strip clubs. They were bringing in midget strippers (little people? What’s P.C.?).
There were parts of the script I couldn’t get through for laughing. There was a line about having to “stack to of these sexy ladies on top of each other to get one regular size” (something like that).
I never heard the finished spot. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

Banksey,
OK. I'll bite. This was written by my good friend Darren Eliker and recorded by the two of us a few years ago, just for fun.

I had a blast with this session--
I was asked to provide vocalizations for some support characters for a game being developed by Blitz Games in the UK.

Deirdre,
The cats --- and the dog --- both pricked up their ears when that played. I think that's a good benchmark.
Here's a recent audition I got from my agent. It asked one to provide a voice similar to Principal Blackman (from Strangers with Candy) or Stewie Griffin without impersonating either. It's for a teen safe-driving website, I believe.

DB's clip had me laughing because my dog was sitting here looking out the window & when she heard DB, she started looking frantically up & down the street to see where the dog was! _________________ Mary |

Wow, these are all wonderful.
DB, I never knew you were also a fluent meower.
A gig I did last fall is still one of my favorites - actually the guy did most of it, I just got to fill in here & there. You'll probly recognise his voice.

well.....here is an excerpt of an excerpt from a spot that took me forever to complete. It was for a church in North Dakota. I had saved the excerpt because it cracked me up. I'm only posting a segment of it because it went on much longer than this. The sentence I am attempting to say is "When things get hard, Jesus is there to comfort you and help you through the trying times." You'll see just how HARD of a time I was having. I'm the one that needed help. hahahahaha

It was my first VO gig: a PSA for Glaxo promoting gential herpes awareness!
