I have been looking for a simple, easy to implement, non-invasive way to effectively track email opens and clicks, and I think I found a decent one.

Yesware.com has a solution (free to an extent) that allows you to add a plugin to either Gmail (via firefox or chrome extension) or Outlook (or probably other ways) that will give you the option to track email opens, and individual link clicks. It integrates into Gmail, so you just have the check the "track" option, and it will notify you when the email is opened, and what links are clicked. You can also add email templates easily, add a reminder to follow up, AND it even integrates with most popular CRM platforms. All of this is available when you hit compose on your email.

The free version allows you to send 100 trackable emails per month...not a bad start.

Google also has a pretty cool little add-on for gmail called GmailDelaySend. Basically, all you have to do is install the script, turn it on, then when you create an email you just add a day/date/time to the first line, put a label on the email, and save it as a draft. Then, gmail will send the email when you told it to (removing the first line). This way, you can send all your marketing emails exactly when you think your clients are most likely to open them and click on them.

Just thought I'd share the solutions to problems I've been contemplating this month. Both of these are super easy to implement, and FREE!
