Nice stuff.
I have to wonder about Joe's nervous right hand, though; it looks like he's tapping out his script in Morse code as he speaks. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

I saw that, too. Although I think I'd take the "nervous hand" in exchange for being able to do what he does all day. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

Yeah, Joe is an incredible talent. And he fires those things off in one take like it is nothing. _________________ Ben

All we need is 2 slices of bread an' we got ourselves a ham sandwich.
Guilty conscience talking there. Are my ISDN sessions that bad? 20 minutes inane chatting to every one minute worked? YUP!
That was fun to watch thanks for tracking it down and posting |

I've taken a class and also been to a lecture from Cindy Akers who's worked with a lot of L.A. TV promo and Trailer talents over they years and she says they have incredibly tightly clenched butts during these sessions. I get what she means; putting all of your energy and concentration into every syllable for drama, style and diction.

That is a cool video. I saw it a couple weeks ago while browsing around Joe's website and blog. He's a very nice guy too! I had emailed him about a piece of equipment he uses and he responded within a few hours. There is another video there where he's doing a session with NBC for the West Wing. |

It's nice to see the smile that you're hearing.
And mega-dittos about the emails. He does get back within hours... if not the same hour.

David,
My take on that is he's using that as a timing mechanism, maybe even unconsiously. It's such a steady, almost metronomic rhythm. _________________ Be well,

Whatever the reason, he should NOT quit doing it. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

Let's critique shall we?
Joe. You need to get on with the job and not waste time. You don't need a photo on your web site it puts people off. Because of background noise keep your mic well away from your other gear. A Neumann U87 is over kill for VO work, too much top, bottom and middle. Never wear cans during a session. You will give a good performance only while standing. ISDN is dead technology so there is no point in getting it, no real work in that market. It's worth mentioning that to do TV work you need to see the pictures and it's difficult to move from radio into TV work
By the way Joe. Search this site for more valuable advice from the experts. |
