You better buy long underwear and knitted caps when they show up in the stores, Party Boy-- because winter here in Maine is a fact.
For us at Camp Cooper, summer is something to withstand.
And winter only rawks hard when it snows 75% of the time. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

I guess here in the Colorado Desert they haven't discovered Central A/C. We have these nifty devices on the roof called evaporative coolers... or more appropriately named “SWAMP COOLERS”.
Here’s the theory: Water is passed over pads that smell like dead fish. As 105 degree air is sucked through the fishy pads it is cooled to a mere 100 degrees and is forced through your house causing the relative humidity in your home to go from 5% to 87%. This makes everyone sticky instead of hot. IT’S GREAT! _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

LOL @ Party Boy. That's like THE antonym for my name. Obviously, I wasn't serious. The thing I'm not looking forward to is mud season. Otherwise, our landlord takes care of snow removal and the heating oil bill is included in our rent. _________________ Greg Littlefield

I've been able to play for two days in a row! The (world famous San Diego) zoo on Friday, the theater Friday night, lunch up the coast in Carlsbad today, then back to downtown San Diego for an unexpected trip around the big bay in a speed boat (the hundred or so harbor seals on the bait tank docks were so cute, and crusing under the "wing" of the new aircraft carrier museum the Midway was very cool) and capped the day off with a great dinner at 3rd Corner in OB. Wow! It was a spectacular day - after the past several weeks of extremely unusual high temps, this was just wonderful.
Just came in to clear junk mail from my server and see what was happening on the board.
Work wise - I uploaded some files Friday morning and finished editing and sending one project on Friday AM, and this morning before heading up the coast, I did a couple of auditions, but for the most part I just had some time off! And next week we head for Mexico (San Miguel de Allende) for a week. Have to get the Jacuzzi all primed for my house sitter. _________________ Playing for a living...

As a lifelong Texan who's unfortunately done very little traveling, I can tell you all about Southwestern heat but little about Northeastern cold. My wife spent a couple of years in Ohio and told me this tale:
Her: "It got so cold once that the gas in my gas line froze."
Me: "Wait...gasoline can't freeze, can it?"
Her: "In the Midwest in January it can."
Then again, I'm the guy who experienced culture shock when visiting Kansas for the first time and saw street signs reading EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTE. Where I grew up, if the merest patch of paper-thin ice appeared on a street, they'd panic and close the schools for the day. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

Greg said "Have to admit I'm having terrible Whataburger withdrawals right now, though."
I lived in the south for many years..I miss Waffle House, Whataburger, Hardees (instead of Carls jr) and Hellmans Mayo (instead of Best Foods) OH and the line "Sweet or Unsweet Hon??"
Upon returning to Coastal California, I was messing with the A/C and nothing.....I called the landlord and she said the house does not have A/C. I called my parents (they lived down the street) and they dont have A/C either......now Im in the Central Valley and miss the cool weather...Im convinced thats why the prices are so high to live there...You PAY for the weather!!!!! |

They ask that up here, too. The ice tea phenomenon is something I've struggled with for the last dozen years in my travels between Texas and New England. At first (since we usually came up in November), they'd just take hot tea, dump it into a glass and put ice in it. voila - Iced Tea!
Nowadays, I don't feel like a commie asking for it when we go out to eat. Besides, we've smuggled our sun tea jar into the region.
To continue would require an entirely different thread... _________________ Greg Littlefield
