Hello all, I am trying to decide which Computer interface to buy in the near future. I have heard great things about the Digidesign MBox and now I just bought Harlan Hogan's Home Recording book and he swears by his Mackie Spike Interface. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I looked at Spike, and liked it-- but i already know how to use Pro Tools, and the Mackie editing interface looked like too high a learning curve for me.. so I stuck with PT.

Love the Mbox.

I love my MBox, and it's very portable. ProTools has a bit of a learning curve, but it's the industry standard and it's so worth learning.

You'll never look back.

And if you have any questions about how to use things there's the Digidesign Users Conference, or DUC.

There are some mighty fine people there.

As always, there's something new for the mix: Now from Digidesign with Pro Tools:

What sounds good to me may sound like total crap to someone else. It's very important to test out everything you can before you make the investment and avoid listening to what others said was "good." Purchasing by hearsay is just going to burn your wallet in the end.....

That said, get what works in your environment and sounds good to you in your environment. If you're not running external processors and are staying ITB, then you really don't have to spend lots of cash on high quality converters. If you plan on using your system to record other things be sure to take that into consideration when you get set up.
