I've wanted one for a while, turns out you can find them online for $2000 if you start looking real hard. I did just that and found a new one for $2100. The $4000 price tag isn't set in stone.

One mean machine... undoubtedly the very best pre-amp I've ever been recorded through so far. Recently almost got my hands on one... it was for sale for only 1250 ($ 1640) because the frontpanel was a bit dented. When I rang the guy he just sold it minutes earlier. Shame... I also found a way to get me a frontpanel for some odd 250 bucks. But I won't be needing the panel if I don't have what's supposed to be behind all that.

Meanwhile I found another GREAT combination of microphone and pre... I'm currently voicing the Dutch version of 'my best friend's wedding', and the studio at Endemol Entertainment records me with a Neumann TLM 149 and a Focusrite Red 7... a-w-e-s-o-m-e! |

When I started looking I was asking around all over, that's just how I am.... Great Divides Studio in Aspen, Colorado was unloading gear, here's a list of some other alternatives:

--start--

Requisite Pal Pluses (2) $4400

Millennia Origin w/ NOS Teles $2200

UA 6176 (2) $1600 each

All gear is in great condition with boxes and manuals.

Call or email Jamie at 970-925-3671

--end--

Requisite Audio is in the same class as Manley, it's a small company, you can call the owner on his cell and talk about what you're doing, or the bass (he was a bassist). From what I've heard, the preamps in the Requisite Pal Plus units are nothing short of stunning because it's compressor is a tricked out LA2A with extended frequency response. I ordered two units back in January (August delivery) to give my clients that huge console sound. If you don't need a de-esser or EQ, these units are the bomb. Millennia Origin is no joke either. I've never used a UA6176 so I can't comment on those, anyone else? There's lots of deals, just have to dig deep to find them.
