A friend of mine just sent this to me and I thought it was interesting.
Should this be posted in the gear section?
Enjoy.

NASA has posted launch videos from cameras mounted on Discovery's solid rocket boosters. The videos start one minute before launch, and follow the solid rocket boosters from launch to splashdown in the Atlantic.
- Launch: 1:00
- Booster separation: 3:00
- Splashdown: roughly 7:30
this is from the bottom of the SRB, looking up
this is from the top of the SRB, looking down

That's incredible - it never ceases to amaze me. How many of you remember the first space flights and good old Walter Cronkite. Now I don't even bother to turn on the TV - how soon we become blase.
We forget how insignificant we really are!
Thanks for sharing Anthony. _________________ Elaine

THAT is cool!
You have to wonder though, what it would've looked like if NASA would've had that kind of camera technology in 1986 onboard Challenger. _________________ Christopher G. French

Didn't you see Apollo 13? We became blase within the span of two moon shots.
I do remember watching them on TV when I was a kid and watching space exploration without Walter Cronkite is like watching Dodger games without Vin Scully... Just not the same.
Thanks for the links, Anthony. To space and back again in under 8 minutes. Still boggles my mind. _________________ Greg Littlefield

AWESOME!! I have heard that seeing the shuttle launch even from many many miles away is tremendous. The rush of sound from the rockets takes minutes to reach you then it becomes very intense, very quickly and it keeps hitting you wave after wave getting louder and louder. I want to see one launch some day. _________________ Ben
