Id be interested in what the calibrated ears on the forum think about this new plugin. There is a 7-day trial. Early reviews (from actual vo talents) have seemed excited.

I don't have a big noise issue, but an improvement is an improvement.

for $1 more you can get Renn Vox, which has a gate and compressor/limiter combo that may work just as well.

I personally HATE dealing with Waves and their awful licensing system. It just seems to get in the way too often.
I don't think there is a DNR that matches a properly set downward expander/gate, ratio 2-2.5:1, range 15-20dB, fast attack (5ms).
Apple AU Dynamics does this great, as well as what comes with Adobe Audition (although a bit fiddly), and Pro Tools.

My 2 cents...

+1 for the Apple AU Dynamics... it's clean, simple and when I need to do what it does, it does it well.

... George, very nice, but bloody ENORMOUS new avatar Smile

Dang...everyone's got a new avatar. Smile

Agreed...waves is a pain. I'm still gonna give it a shot, we shall see. I didn't realize there was anything really usable in the apple AU box...learn something new every day.

The iLok is a bit if a pain but otherwise no issues for me.
Rennvox, Renneq, Renncomp, L1 and L2, Renn Channel well worth it

I like the Apple Au Multiband Comp and the Peak Limiter as well as the Expander
