Well - we have a winner! After talking with the client and getting the ever popular, "well, you're the expert" comment out of the way - the gentle puff of air after 'map' is what they had in mind for pronounciation. So, thank you to Philip, Lance, and Bruce who all had the winning suggestion!
...of course, after having seen all the long p jokes, I'm glad I didn't put down their initial direction - "double P"... That would have been very, very wrong... 
Mike H - I try to stay out of Bookshops. Why? Because I can't read.
