Great idea.

I could only find one real review. The rest were all puff pieces based on the original press release. It said that annoyingly it picked up all the ambient noise so it may not be very directional. But for $40 you can impress someone somewhere I'm sure.

I think that there's an intrinsic problem with any device that doesn't use the 30-pin connector at the bottom of the iPhone to send the audio.

To quote Beau Weaver, writing a review of a different device on George Whittam's site:

Quote:
"...sends analog audio through the 1/8th inch mic/headphone port. Bad bad bad! That mic port has a radical "telephone filter" eq baked in, so there is no way to get broadcast quality audio through it."

As top pros we would never consider such things. It's all one short step away from using $159 mics whilst talking with our heads stuffed into modified CoolBags.

But that was my alternative cabaret act at the Comedy Store back in the 80s... don't diss the visionaries!

... as for this microphone malarkey, it was inevitable. Don't be surprised if a "reputable" mic manufacturer climbs into this arena in a big way soon. If they can sell Zeiss lens adapters, then anything is possible...
