This is one of the most impressive thread-jacks I've seen in quite a while Wink

Only had that Balvenie once, but I do want it again. Laphroaig is my favorite scotch all-up, followed by Talisker, Macallan, and Oban. I also like Aberlour, but for some reason I never seem to buy it when I'm at the liquor store.

My father liked Glenlivet a lot. I've never been a huge fan of it, although it is certainly drinkable.

Based on your tastes Corey, I'm sure you'd enjoy a nice Ardbeg 10 or a Lagavulin 16.

I can appreciate a good Islay whisky, but my favorites have always been the sherried scotches.

Thank you for the suggestion! Smile I do enjoy Lagavulin quite a bit- if you haven't figured it out, I love the smoky, peaty varieties. Wink

Islay malts seem to be my forte. Ardbeg is one I have only had once or twice, but I will make sure to find a bottle of the 10 based on your recommendation.

If I'm feeling like something a little less like a campfire, I really enjoy Dalwhinnie (I hope I spelled it properly).

Some interesting stuff around from the distilleries of by-gone days.

A 40 year old scotch bottled 12 years ago from a distillery that vanished in 1985.

That bottle must be worth about 500 dollars- maybe even more. I'm envious, sir.

Yes, the cask strength stuff is straight from heaven.

And Philip was probably more than astonished that we polished off that fine bottle of scotch he foolishly offered to share with us.

No ill effects, indeed. Unless you consider that I now make my living by teaching people to scream.

I admire Philip's will power. None of those lovely bottles appears to have been opened.

Laphroig and Macallan here.

Further threadjacking back to MA for a moment; when we first moved there, I could barely understand people. Now I hear that accent and smile when I hear outa-townahs say things like "Tie-ings-boro" "Quince-ee Market" and "LOW-ell" (everybody knows it's "lohl"), and Nashua (instead of Nashuar).

we lived in Groton, not far from "Peppruhl", and only a few minutes from Ayuh; lasted there 12 years before moving back to Colrada, where we have no accents.

Went to buy gas at a local station here in upper Dibchit a while back and the woman behind the counter said, "How ah yah" when I walked in. Turns out she grew up in Lemstah.

Wink
