Thanks, Deirdre! I just finished listening to the CD of Pat Fraley's "Greatest Cartoon Tricks Ever Smuggled...". That will be a lot of fun in the car during my son's and my multi-day drive to Bangor. Smile Also got a couple other books that ended up on my Amazon wish list as a result of hanging out here.

Life IS grand!

wow mike!

Happy Father's Day all.

I can't wait to find out if we're having a boy or a girl. Doesn't matter to me in the least which it is. I'm just ready to know. We went and looked at cribs and stuff again yesterday. Okay, so I'm getting excited. Enough to not even mind looking at that stuff.

Just showing off, but here's my kid.

It's a pic I took today-- it was just supposed to be a test shot for some stuff I took with my film camera but I liked it and wanted to share.

Bailey-- I'd recognize you anywhere.
Look at your Father's tie!
I wish I had one like that now.

Well for those of you who don't know I just married my wife about a year and a half ago. she was a widow for a little over 4 years after her first husband lost a 10 year battle to brain cancer, he was 38 she was 35 they had a son in 1992 who is now 14 on January 24th of this year almost a year after our marriage Jacob Patrick James became Jacob Patrick James Reiber.
In the sense that I really don't know but one way to parent, nothing changed from beforehand I don't love him anymore than I did before the court finalized things. But still a this was my first real Fathers day as Jakes Dad it was really very special.
Coming home from church yesterday we were about ten seconds late on the scene of an automotive accident that had we arrived sooner might very easily have killed my wife and son both. As I was thinking about that I was really moved to tears at how precious those relationships are, and why I do the things that I do even when thigs are a little tense between Tina ( my wife) and I.
It's really quite simple, I love her, and I love my son. In many ways it's that love that keeps me trying when I feel like giving up in marketing, or tring to improve my skills in VO or whatever. It motivates me when I have to clean bathrooms or cut the grass. I'm not suggesting that any of this is remarkable, and I certainly am not looking or any awards necessarily, but only to point out an answer to the question that was posed in an editorial that I read in the newspaper the other day, "Why do Dads do what they do?" Because they love their families, they love their Kids. So they show it everyday at ballgames, fixing umpteen million different things around the house, putting up with now teenagers tromping through the house on that rare Saturday afternoon when you get to lay on the couch for a a 1/2 hour and watch the Reds and maybe grab a quick nap
Anyway i didn't mean to soapbox or wax eloquent but let me finish with this; it was the inscription on the card Tina gave me yesturday:
Sometimes in a special moment
When we're talking or laughing
Or, I'm watching you being a caring Father
Something makes me see you
As if for the first time
And I realize again
All the wonderful reasons
Why I fell in love with you!

Yesturday was a teary day for me, and here I go again: Ha Ha.. anyway, a belated Happy Fathers Day to all those Dads who labor on in the mundane for no other reason than that they love their kids.
