Has any one else gotten a invitation to join yet?

It's from the voice 123 people, and their invitation said:

"VoiceBunny is targeting a new segment of buyers and it will be a great new tool for your voiceover career, including your existing Voice123 efforts. With VoiceBunny, there are no subscription fees. VoiceBunny makes a small commission for each approved recording you deliver."

I went to the website. Not impressed by their front page demo. On my setup, it was overdriven creating quite a bit of distortion.

I don't want to be overly critical, because as an entrepreneur, I don't wish that anybody fail... ever. But I wonder if they did any focus groups before they landed on the name 'Voice Bunny'. Just wondering.

Rick did you get an invite too?

On my speakers, the audio sounded OK

You'll also notice "beta" underneath Voice-bunny, guess things aren't totally operational yet

And I agree about the name..

Everything that I've read in VO groups on Facebook and LinkedIn paints a very bad picture of VoiceBunny.

It seems they are furthering the race to the bottom. YUCK! Meh

Do you understand the term "Work for Hire" Read more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_for_hire

It appears that the service agreement only speak to "Work for Hire" and nothing is found regarding "Royalties"

If you agree to do a "Work for Hire" you have no control about how long it can be used our how it is use. The work can be disassembled and put together with different elements to make a new work. As a work for hire you will not receive any compensation for this new use.

Also the voice recording made could be used in a way that is totally repugnant to the person who made the recording.

Typically when a work is made for hire the artist is most likely to get a greater compensation than for a commissioned work where the "copyright" is retained by the author (in this case the VO artist)

Each should do as they see fit, but caution is important in any venture.

Lastly if you have reservations about Voice 123 then know that Voice 123 and its owners are the creator of this site.

Sign up for this and I will send you your own personally framed coffin nail. Support such business enterprises and you are standing tall with those who do not REALLY care about falling rates, residuals, royalties and you certainly do not value your work.

Possible short-term gain will come at a long-term loss. What mess do you want to hand to the next generation of Voiceoverists? Would you prefer to hand it at least a chance of making a living?

I'm not understanding the problem with this site. It seems a step above Voices.com and v123.com. You set your rates and the client hires you. Then the website ADDS 20% for their commission.

Perhaps I missed something, but it seems that one's set rate for a local radio spot for Ferndale Chevy running for 2 weeks, would be the same rate as McDonald's national tv spot that would run for 3 years.

Anybody else come up with this?

yeah, their buckets are a bit broad, but you can always turn down a gig or raise your rates on it. I don't think you're locked into anything.

It seems like a boon for those looking fir talent, as it once again represents a major platform that simply commodotizes talent.

This doesn't seem to be more than an O Desk or Guru based program that has a narrow focus of v.o.

I can't imagine anything good (for the talent) coming from a relationship that starts out so heavily predicated upon lowest common denominator fixed rates.

Even when I put on my "talent buyer" cap, it seems that the existing situation at V123, etc., at least begins with a fixed rate offer or request for bid to the talent, with a full disclosure of the scope of work.

The major problem with the so called "Pay to Play" sites seems to deal with vetting (Talent are insufficiently skilled or offers are ridiculously low), but in many regards mimics a tried and true procedure for securing talent.

This Voice Bunny seems to be a major step backwards to the early 1900's, which spurred the need for labor to organize and form unions.

Or will the new pitch that v.o. teachers use become "Get rich in v.o., $5 at a time"?
