|
|
From what I've read, "twenty-twelve" is more popular, but it seems like every time I read the year (and it was the same with 2011), the client wants "two thousand twelve" instead.
So, of course, last week I recorded a spot saying "two thousand twelve"... and the client came back wanting "twenty-twelve".
The moral of the story is, of course, always ask beforehand. But I'm curious what YOUR clients seem to prefer...?
(...and yes, I AM bored at the moment -- why do you ask?... ) _________________ Always look on the bright side of life.

...and for the record, "twelve" is a very strange word when you type it over and over... _________________ Always look on the bright side of life.

I normally say two-thousand-twelve, but will do it any way the clients want it.
That's my default though & so far no client has called me on it. _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

My experience has been "two thousand twelve", except car dealer spots where you have 40secondsofcopycrammedintoa30 in which case it's "twenty twelve". _________________ Chris Rice - Noisemaker

I'm already working on March's edition of Highlights...and they are very specific about the year being read 'twenty-twelve'. _________________ Threadjackers local 420

I managed to convince at least one client that 'twenty-twelve' was better than 'two-thousand-twelve' (saying 'and' is just silly) because it is made up of fewer syllables. Fewer syllables = more breathe-able copy.
My preference is 'twenty-twelve' simply because we were all accustomed to saying 'nineteen-yadda-yadda-yadda.' It's a natural progression. Although, while our ancestors said 'nineteen-hundred' for 1900, our saying 'twenty-hundred' would've sounded rather odd. _________________ Mike

What difference does it make? According to the Mayans in a few months we'll all be history anyway. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

I don't see what's such a big deal about the Mayans. They just ran out of wall space. _________________ DBCooperVO.com
