Hi Gang,

I'm having some strange issues with ISDN connections. I've had a couple of session this week (one from Baltimore and one from Portland) where the studio has called my box (Telos Zephyr XStream) and the lines connect, but I don't get a "lock". The studio can hear me... but I can't hear them. But when I dial the studios, eveerything works as it should.

Have any of you encountered this? If so, did you find a solution?

Sounds like one on the lines isn't the exact number.
I had the same issue— amazingly, they seemed to connect both lines, but I didn't get a lock and could not hear them.

I had one of my numbers wrong. It shouldn't have come thru at all, but SOMETHING did.

Used to happen to me all the time with the classic black Zephyr. The unit would overheat and the lock would kick in and out or it wouldn't lock at all. But I don't think it matter who dialed who. Beyond that, my only suggestion would the obvious - make sure you're both on the same settings.

I know a guy who had to dial out for all his sessions. Something about being too far from the telephone switch. Clients weren't able to dial him up.

Dave,

I have the same box. I have this issue occasionally. Make sure you are not set to auto in. This seems to cause lock issues. Just set to L2 for the in.

Also, it could be that one of your lines for long distance got dropped by your carrier or another carrier. This also happened to me. But you would find out when you got your LD bill. Same issue could be on their end. I know one studio had the one line dropped and finally got it figured out after months of frustration. Call your line provider and make sure another company did not switch you. I had to set a PIN so this did not happen without my permission again, as it happened twice.

Other than rebooting on both ends of the call...that is all I have.

Yes, Dave. Check to make sure all of your settings are correct, even the 'Directory' setting. The directory numbers are the same as the SPIDs, without the area code at the beginning and the '0101' at the end.

If you continue to have connection issues, the folks at Telos are wonderful. See if they'd be willing to dial you up and evaluate from their end.
