Hi, I'm interested in hiring a coach. I looked around the internet and found a coach who works out of D.C. as well as Tampa by the name of John Burr. Has anyone ever heard of Mr. Burr and is he credible? He's charging me $200 for the evaluation, which is before training even starts. Is this protocol? Would you recommend Mr.Burr to a young man fresh out of school with a poor mans budget aand a rich mans ambition? Of course the price doesn't matter if the quality of the service is worth it. I just can't afford to blow any money right now (or never for that matter).

And what is the norm I should be expecting to pay for a coach? About $100 a training session? I also found Edge Studio which does a $99 investigative class prior to coaching. Does anyone have any other reccomendations for local D.C. area coaches? Thanks in advance for all the help/advice!

Lots of coaching can be done remotely. Marc Cashman is well respected. http://www.cashmancommercials.com/classes.html

I also like Scott Burns at http://bookscottburns.com/

Quino,

Right there in the DC area you have Michael Minetree (who is also a member of the VO-BB) who is a good man. His website is http://www.thevoiceovercoach.com/.

Oh, and welcome to the VO-BB!
