Hey guys! So I just worked up this jingle demo today, just threw together stuff I've done. I would lurve feedback on how to make it better...

http://voice123.com/mp3/demos/whitneyszabo%20-%20Jingle%20Demo.mp3

It seems a little short... bad? ok? I don't want to make it longer just for the sake of making it longer, but there's one or two of the pieces that could be a little longer if it seems to short.

Is the bass on the first spot to thumpy as to be annoying?

Also, here's my feeble attempt at joomla. This website is live but not promoted at all or anything yet. Should I hold off until I can get something more... designed?

EDIT - I revised the site using Bruce's suggestions, and here is a revised demo, also utilizing Bruce's great advice. So old demo above, new one below.

As always, your comments and time are immensely appreciated. Smile

My thinking on the jingle demo is I would skinch the pieces that feature your voice most clearly to the front of the demo and move the choral bits where your voice is blended with others to the back. Potential buyers are most interested in hearing your voice more than the music and the other singers. This may be impossible, but if you had the ability to ask any of the producers of the jingles you have to make you a remix with your voice standing out more clearly that would be lovely. Is that a paid-for version of the RotoRooter jingle? If so I'd move it forward too.

I'm from the camp that loves VO websites that are clean and get right to the point. Many buyers don't have the time (in their minds) to read your bio, as fascinating as it may be. Sure, feel free to include a bio, client list and all, but put it way below the critical information, or on a secondary page. In my opinion the prominent items on your front page should be:

Whitney Szabo

Voice Talent . . . . Jingle Singer

Voice Demo mp3 . . . . Jingle Demo mp3

Phone Number . . . . E-Mail/Contact info

Some interesting graphics, a nice photo are fine, but give 'em cake first, frosting later.

Hey Bruce, thanks very much. All good stuff. I'm gonna go mess with my website right now.

Good advice on the jingle demo too.... I had wondered about the ones where I was with another singer. The Roto-Rooter jingle (and everything on the demo) is a paid for version, I will move it forward.

For the Time Warner jingle, I'm pretty much stuck with what I've got... I'll move that back. The other one with other people singing in the background has other parts with just me. I'll look for a good snippet that's just me.

Thank you thank you thank you for the advice. Smile

I don't have too much to add except to say that I love the revised demo and the page is nice, clean, and to the point. I like the other page style as well (when you click WHITNEY B. SZABO - Voice Actor - Jingle Singer takes you to a different page), but not as much as the initial page. The main page evokes "colorful, fresh, fun" which, to me, matches your demo nicely.

Thanks!
Fran

Thanks very much Fran. And eep!! Don't want that headline to link to that other style page! Thanks for pointing that out. That page style was actually how I'd started things out before I found the current template with the rainbow colors. Glad to know you think I made the right choice going with the rainbow! Smile

I'm liking the jingle redo. The last jingle could be punched up a little bit, some 3 band compression and EQ could help with that. Because this is so specialized a page dedicated to just Jingles maybe in order.

The site is pretty good. I would like to see your name much bigger at the top, across the color bands. Maybe in a fun font??

Instead of Jingle Singer, am I wrong in thinking Sessions Singer or Vocalist?
If anything I would include those in your meta tags.

Hey Mike, thanks for your comments.

I would definitely like my name at the top in the color bands, but I can't figure out how to make that happen. I'll keep trying to learn more about Joomla and see if I can't figure that out.

I'd wondered if I could really call my demo a jingle demo... Time Warner and Roto Rooter are really the only true true jingles. Moxie Girlz was a music bed really, Gold Star was a :60 song with space for vo, the "don't give up" was really more a bed too, and the chipper twangy tune near the end was for a hospital rally type meeting.

So hrm. I don't know.
