So here I am nearing the end of a very l-o-o-o-o-ng script with more than a thousand seperate individual files and as I was finishing editing the peices - I asked myself (the strange part is, I answered back), I said, "Self, why am I doing this?" ...and then Self started on a tirade about how we are not suited for much more than sitting around talking to ourselves...

I think I have been locked up in my little room too long... what do you think?

So with that in mind, when you are done with a particulary trying peice of script which has taken a lot of work and a long time to complete... what do you think about? What does your little inner-voice tell you?

Can't wait to hear your responses....

I think it's time to go back and finish this up - finally.

Frank, we all wondered where you'd been....

Uh, booze, drugs, mindless potato-couching, going for a walk, and sleeping come to mind as an aftermath...but if I lived in the Wasatch Range, I'd probably go for a quick tobogan ride down a nearby hill.

I think of the two "B"s: a Beer and Bed.

I hate to admit it, but it's this simple for me:

"trying" script ---> more studio time ---> BIGGER CHECK

"...and then I don't feeeeeeeeeel so bad" (as the song goes)

A comic book and/or a video game.
That's how I "come down".

Party hat and noise maker!

I love music. I have my favorite (favourite) tunes that relax or motivate me.

Usually I am so high from finishing a big job, I don't need anything else!
I love doing complicated projects. A lo-o-o-ng bath with H2O2 to oxygenate and squishing the kitties in delight is usually my fave thing. The booze and stuff, they happen when they happen, and they do, but not usually as a reward, because I know I'll have to pay for it later Smile
Dante also likes to get his wife and the rest of the apartment back when I have finished.

Did you have to make sure every file name was correct to the letter as well? That in itself is a big task! Fortunately, when I had a 1500 prompt telephone script to do, I purchased Vox Studio because it automatically saved to the right file name on each prompt. So far, have only used it a couple of times since, but it was worth it for just the one job so I am not complaining.

If it's a long and involved job that pays $1,500 I say to myself, "God, what a way to make money!". If it's a $200 job that turned into a long and involved mess I say to myself, "God, what a way to make money!".

I then get the G.D. headphones off my sweaty ears and seek the sunshine outdoors for a while.

It's still the best job I know of.

I have a candidate for second best job though. I have a friend who I hire often for his unique voice and his day job is the agency and client liason for a major insurance company in town. All he does is travel around the region taking people out to lunch, dinner and golf, making sure they're happy with his company. If there's a problem he makes the right phone call and fixes it. Otherwise it's 40 hours a week of shmooz.

Think?..... THINK????....Sometimes I think other vo talents have more stamina than I do. After even just short while trying to make some scripts actually communicate something, I can't think about anything.
