Hi Dan--

Please take my comments with a grain of salt as I'm still trying to find my own way in the VO realm. So,

1. I like your voice and delivery. Warm, confident, trustworthy.

2. I think that the version I listened to could benefit from some "S" filtering. It could just be my rig, butI heard some sibilence and the sound became a touch distracting to me.

3. The length of the demo is about :60, but there seemed to be a lot of individual spots (10) that flowed, without clear divisions or transitions, into each other. So, I became a little disconcerted and concentrated more on the content than on your delivery. Let me see if I can explain why:
a. TRACK 1 - Denny's talking about food, but that led into
b. TRACK 2 - talking about digestive problems, that led into
c. TRACK 3 - talking about salad dressing, that led into
d. TRACK 4 - something about a voice; then
e. TRACK 5 - Ambien and TRACK 6 - Advil and TRACK 8 - Cialis - not sure that 2 drug ads should go back to back, and the third just one cut away;
f. TRACK 7 - Folgers. This got me thinking about the food again, and not paying attention to your voice;
g. TRACK 9 - Gorgeous and TRACK 10 - soft drink.

4. Then, IMHO, maybe you should consider keeping the length at :60, cutting some of the redundant drug and food bits, and lengthening the remaining bits, and running the whole thing through an "S" filter.

Best of luck. Take the comments for what you think that they are worth.

Tony

I liked the voice in the commercial demo... but it would have been more interesting if more variety of inflections were used. I heard a constant flow of the same voice through out the commercials.

Other than some sound levels, I liked the audio book demo. I think Mr. Kafer could give a better critique of your audio book skills.

Your audiobook demo is only about 15 seconds long. It sounded fine from what I heard, but I don't have enough to really go on. Also, keep in mind, kids' books are a niche. That's fine, if you want to work in that space, but a kids book demo won't get you work in the adult audiobook world.

Hi Dan. I am a NOOB as well and suffer from 33 years of radio (am recovering and still in re-hab), but glad to share what I heard. I listened to your other clips and combined they show a much wider range than your demo. Agree to limit to 60-90 seconds, but go ahead and showcase your abilities to do character, accent etc in commercial reads. You have a very pleasant voice that prints well---the 15 seconds of audiobook sounded good as well, some suggest audiobook demos to be at least three reads that show character differentiation in dialogue, conflict, narration and range-one publisher wanted to hear an entire book, still others will ask for something longer than 60-to-90, like five minutes unedited to determine how long you can sustain a read without mistake. Nice job, show the variety and range you have!
