I bumped into this comparison of ten low price digital audio editors, perhaps this will help!

Goldwave - my favorite - came in second, because the reviewer thought it was not as easy to learn and use. Of course, the winner had fewer features and less to offer - you know - useless things like a noise filter, for instance.

Hmmmm.....I guess a stick shift Chevette is better than a loaded BMW.
