Over the past few weeks there has been a spike in the number of people checking out my blog. It's actually tripled! Especially with international visitors from all of the continents. Has anyone experienced a sharp increase in website or blog hits in such a short period of time? Any theories as to why, good or bad? _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

My blog is brand new, so no but I'm getting a LOT more traffic than I anticipated. No idea why. Much more than my Brian Hart Productions site gets.
On a somewhat related note I noticed yesterday that my Flickr page was getting a larger number of visits than usual. Normally I get 10-20 a day. Yesterday I got 123. Plus there were a couple hits on Hart Voice Overs for "Brian Hart" Flickr. No idea who, how or why. There were no associated hits on any of my photos, no comments nada. Just a lot more views of my photo stream. It seems to be back to normal today.
I like the aliens theory myself. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

If you don't mind me asking, do you happen to have some IP addresses for the extra visitors?
If you have that info, you can hit any number of sites to see whether or not the addresses match recent orignation points for attacks or port scans.
Any time there is an unusual number of hits on your site, blog, whatever, I usually check the logs first to see if anyone was scanning ports checking for potential exploits. More often than not, that's what it turns out to be. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I had spikes in traffic in early February which doubled my average daily traffic for about a week, but I also had a few news posts which were picked up by other sites.
I hadn't posted anything in a week due to work and some other projects and just checked my traffic stats but it's been fairly average for February.
Incidentally, Tom, might I ask what you use with blogspot to track your traffic stats?
(And I added you to my blogroll too.) _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News

I just sent you some of those IP addresses, Greg. Honestly, I didn't understand most of what you wrote so I'm hoping you can help me out!
Craig, I use Blog Patrol to track my blog hits. And thanks for adding me to your blog roll! _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!
