Y'know I was so enthralled with the artistic elegance of my handiwork..... I forgot to mention the part about sound!
It sounds good to me, better, my UM 70S sounds a lot less boxy, and the 416 definitely has a tighter bottom (hubba hubba)
I will see if I can post some sound.
BTW my thanx to you, Mike Sommer, Bob Souer and everyone who has provided their valuable input.
I would say to Kara, who started this thread---a Whisper Room can be a good thing IF you address the acoustic challenges successfully. |

You're welcome.
In regards to the treatment you placed behind your work desk. Since you have the monitors against the wall, put the two panels behind the monitors. This will give them more focus.
Put those bass traps in the rear corners, floor to ceiling. They will perform better in the larger room. Or place them on the floor in the booth - just to see what happens. _________________ The Blog:

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong. |

It also looks like if a madly insane person barges into your house you have a nice place to lock them up until the authorities arrive. Multi-purpose room...always a good idea.

What about putting a rug on the floor of the booth? |

Carpet will take care of reflections from the floor. (Thought it's not a substitute for treatment on walls.)
Note: I think the problems you had with the boxy sound while using the foam traps, was that there was not enough bass trapping. Corner bass trapping needs to go "floor to ceiling." But covering the all of the wall surface with ridged insulation panels is generally the best way to do it. _________________ The Blog:
