We salute you for your ingenuity. What is the advantage of doing the itunes process rather than using the #29 disc which is already cataloged with full samples?
WE |
Not having to pull the disc off the shelf, and fulfilling my predilection for being able to catalog every bit of sound I own in one place where I can get to it immediately. Eventually I will re-do the process and rip full-quality AIFFs to my hard drive, but right now I don't have the space for that. I'm waiting until I get a separate external drive to devote entirely to nothing but audio. Then the CDs will simply act as backups that I can store away somewhere out of sight and never need to touch.
All of this is an advantage to me, but not, perhaps, to people who have better things to do with their time. Which, I'll admit, is probably most people. |

|

Everyone...
If you use a ripper such as Audiograbber (free)...there is a way to connect to FreeDB which, incidentally has all the discs from BT1 and BT2 in the database.
It will go out on the net...grab the track names and name each file as it rips to your Hard Drive. The data for BT2 is better than BT1...
but it beats the heck out naming them yourself.
I have about a dozen external drives that I use for audio, so I just ripped them to my Hard Disk and Voila...instant library...both libraries sitting in my audio archive closet.
Maybe this will help some of ya'll out.
Peace and Happy Ripping....

Yeah, iTunes uses CDDB (on the Mac it does, anyway), and though BackTraxx2 was on there, the info was screwed up somehow, or it didn't match up properly with iTunes' fields. I had to go through and correct a fair amount of it. |

OK, Doc and others...
Finally got the Juicer V3.022 to pull the previews.
You MUST use a DVD drive...not a CD drive. And regardless what the directions say, the previews are NOT on "the first disk", but on disc 29, and if you ordered and got the extra set, it's on the DVD, not the CD's.
Cost of new TRAXX....$99
Cost of new DVD drive....$59 (with light scribe)
Cost of installation...stiff knees
Satisfaction....PRICELESS

I'll have to go to the Mall and sit on Santa's lap, and ask for those CDs. My last big purchase was about a month ago from Fry's... new side-by-side fridge. Lesson learned... Happy wife, happy life. We call it... "Our Christmas gift".

I simply took the contents of the DVD and dropped everything into a file on my D drive. Make a shortcut, drop that on the desktop and you can preview cuts any time you like.
I have most of my librarys on an external drive that I carry with me...the exceptions are the complete BT librarys due to size. I only have 120gig to work with now. After the holidays I'm planning to bump the size up to 400-500gig depending on what Newegg.com has on sale. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

So just how big do you think the complete BT1 & BT2 would be.
I guess that means there is not really a thumb drive that will hold it all? _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

Depends on file type. Since most of what I do is broadcast-geared anyway I'd go 256mp3. A wild guess? Maybe a half gig for the two librarys.
I usually only have about 9gb available since imaging projects tend to be space hogs with all of the drops and music and so on.... _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Well - I received my library today. Fortunately, it arrived completely intact. Very professional presentation.
I'm sorry to hear that some had so much trouble with Juicer. I installed mine and went right to work.
And, may I add - what a terrific library... one of the best I've heard yet. |

I've been looking for a decent (& affordable!) library, and after all the raves you guys are giving this one....I just ordered mine!
...won't get the extras, but hey...it's a start...and such a deal for $99
Thanks for the great heads-up!

Just ordered Back Trax II- they said it was 33 discs.
We'll have to wait and see what comes in. BUT, I am very optimistic based on what everyone else is saying about it. And besides, I KNOW my buddy and Fellow HOUSTON TEXANS fan, Dave would only steer me in a GOOD direction !!
Thanks everyone and especially DAVE !
Take care ,
Don |
