I always wear a pocket tee when exercising...putting the nano in there and with the rubber skin and the lanyard...that seems to keep it from going anywhere. They also make elastic armbands that can hold your iPod. There are also better earbuds with rubber tips that don't fall out easily and light weight headphones meant for runners.

I own a Creative mp3 player. It's great for the $$$.
My 16 year-old daughter HAD to buy herself an IPOD last Christmas with her own money. She lost it about 6 weeks later, and can't afford another. Sadly the bank of Mom & Dad have no sympathy.

UPDATE!
After getting all the great info from you guys...and deciding that I'd probably go with a Creative Zen....
I JUST WON AN IPOD NANO!!!!
Our town had its yearly festival yesterday, and on a lark I put my name in to win an IPOD at a booth of one of our local realtors (one of our neighbors works there). ...she just deliverd the NANO to my door!
I'm SO psyched!!!!!...I may get a Zen in the future, but for now, I'm golden!
