I "use to" (another one that drives me nuts in print) work with a guy who went on to become, and still is, a very talented and very busy national voiceover guy. He firmly believed that ANNCR stood for anchor, since it always appeared at the bottom of the script.

I wish I was kidding.

Sorry, but LEET SPEE|< seems like an enormous waste of mental energy. I mean it's OK to have code words and "cool" words, but when you have to keep running to urbandictionary.com, and you find 27 variations and arguments on style on so many of these words....

I mean there's being "hip", and then being so "hip" that only you, two friends, and your dog understand you....

Thank God for friends and dogs.

Color me terminally unhip - but tantalizingly close to sanity.

Today on Craigslist

Sign Language Interrupter

Earn $75 for interrupting several audio files into sign language.

You can have the audio files in advance. When you are comfortable with understanding the material you will be video taped signing the content. The video taping session will last 1 hour.

This is for a research study and the video will be used in the study.

That's cool! I speak ASL (not interpreter quality). My oldest sister is deaf.

Well, this certainly isn't your normal "voiceover" job. In fact, it isn't! Signers - especially simultaneous signers - are amazing. Just like simultaneous audio translators - how the heck do they do that!?

You have to be raised speaking multiple languages I think. Anyone who can pick up that skill as an adult is very special.

I'm an American Idol junkie...and cracked up when Diana Ross used the word 'pronounciation' this evening! It made me think of this thread Kiss
