Ahh, got it! I used to use Cubase and moved over to Studio One. I liked Cubase but the editing tools and workflow didn't really fit me. Studio One is like it was designed for me.
Anyways, that's a great idea with using the Lanes as room tone! Auto crossfade and everything, great idea! Most of the work I'm currently doing is commercial or under 5 minute recordings. So pasting in the room tone hasn't been too hindering YET. But I love your idea of using the lanes. They have the same feature in Studio One called "Layers."
BTW: Studio One was designed by two of the original former Cubase/Nuendo developers. So moving from Cubase to Studio one was a breeze. They already have a 30 day demo but they mentioned that they are releasing a FREE version soon (which is nuts!). Ok I'll shutup, I'm just a huge Studio One fan boy right now. _________________ http://jordanreynolds.com |

think about what you just asked... Do you really think Waves would make public what type of algorithm is used in their products?
I use the algorithm of my ears... If you tweak the Renn Comp or Renn Channel or Renn Vox you can get them to sound identical |

I think you misunderstood what I asked. I wouldn't expect any plugin manufacturer to publicly announce "We used the XYZ 2.35 Algorithm in our compressor plugin." But it certainly wouldn't be unordinary for a manufacturer to state something like "Renn Vox uses the same compression algorithm as the Renn Compressor but includes some different features - a gate, hard limiter, and auto makeup gain." They aren't revealing their secret back-end algorithm code by making such a statement.
You claimed "The RennVox and the RennComp are identical." But this is simply based on your own audible observations - which is fine. I understand the value A/B'ing plugins. But the way you worded it made it sound like it was hard fact which only Waves knows. That is the only reason I asked. _________________ http://jordanreynolds.com |

Must admit I always thought the RennVox and the RennComp were one and the same - it would be odd if they weren't wouldn't it?
I must have owned more compressors than cars - and that's saying something! But the older I get, (coughs - more mature I get) the less compression I want. I mean, 1 to 1.5dB when I'm tracking feels great but even 2dB can sound like too much. _________________ Colin Day - UK Voiceover
