Hi All I am new here to the BB, and was looking at this thread. I have built several "Pro" studios over the years and also my own studio from the foundation up.
Out of all the expensive stuff my clients put in their studios some worked as described but most fell short of what we expected. There is so much that I have learned from all of this, Mainly the things that you can do on an average budget work just as well as if not better than the expensive stuff, it is all in how you use them.
A square vocal booth that small and dead will need tons of twiking to fit your needs, and the range of your voice will become much more critical in that small area. Want to see what it sounds like with less foam , put your mic and you facing the door and record something with the door open. Then get some free cardboard and pin it to spots on the walls, move it around till you like the sound. And don't forget the ceiling about a foot in front of your mic.
You wont need anything big 12 x12 pieces from an old box will do the job, if that works just get some very light poster board the foam type 1/4 " thick, if you like you can spray it flat black to match. then hang it where the cardboard is. That may or may not fix the problem but you wont spend any cash in finding out. And if it dose not don't give up there is a lot of other solutions. |
