What Mac users get is Logic 8, which sounds quite delicious. |

i recently took a deep breath and upgraded my G5 Dual 2.5 Ghz from 10.3 to 10.4.11. ProTools worked fine, no loss of plug in compatibility (running ProTools 6). Had a few glitches that took a couple of weeks to sort out. Swapping hard drives was not an option - too much copy protected software, but I DID make a backup using "Super Duper" on a dedicated FireWire drive that I could boot up with if necessary. There are a lot of steps you should take before upgrading an operating system, including repairing permissions before and after the upgrade. Lots of info at www.oakbog.com
The only reason I would upgrade to Leopard is to run ProTools 8. Otherwise, Tiger is OK by me. I kick and scream over upgrades.. if it ain't broke.. _________________ Jeff Berlin

Thanks, Jeff!
I haven't made the leap yet to Tiger. I've a few more budgetary things to work out...for some reason my wife thinks heat and food are more important with my meager VO income...go figure.
I'm running Pro Tools 6.4 now. My 6.7 upgrade kept crashing on me. I tried to reinstall it, and it wouldn't read the CD. Right now, however, 6.4 is working just fine. |
