I had an off-site session the other day and the engineer told me more and more folks are reading right off their iPhones.

Sheesh! Kids these days ...

'Course, for that to work, you'd have to have an iPhone.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

After years of a client destroying trees (and big copy supply bills), they decided to go the monitor-in-the-booth route. I didn't think I'd like it at first, as I like the ability to mark up a script on occasion, but I must say that I got used to it quickly. It didn't hurt that it was a 20" monitor and I can blow up the type as much or as little as I need to, depending on my mood. One strange aspect is that with paper I used to be able to see that stack of 100+ pages dwindle down to the final few. Now I just keep scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling....and then "Oh, that's it?"

The other day at home I didn't feel like printing out a 40 pager, so I borrowed my son's MacBook and read it off that. It's certainly much tidier, and once I got the placement right, it was quite nice.

I recently had to read some copy off my new iPhone while I was on vacation. It worked great. You can enlarge the text if necessary and the display resolution is very crisp.

I've got to say that using Melissa's EEE PC seems like a MUCH nicer alternative to using an iPhone.

I like the iPhone, don't get me wrong, but it just seems too small for my tastes.

/waiting for the Inspiron 910 to choose for myself... need a good travel lappy anyway.

The iPhone is small, but that's why God invented eye glasses. Wink And it's much easier to read off of than a Blackberry. I've done that too. The real reason I read off the phone rather than off the laptop screen, is because my laptop is a few years old, with a noisy fan, and I was able to hit "record", then place the laptop on the floor and far away from the mic for the read. It was for a network promo and I was nervous that the portable rig wasn't going to pass muster, but it all worked out just fine.

Blackjack II here.

Still, even with my eyesight, which is pretty sharp, I don't enjoy it.

I hear you. Bigger is always better when it comes to text. Which reminds me... I want to ditch the 15" flatscreen in my booth and stick a larger one in there.

I'm using an Acer 24" (P241W) and I have to say even with two pages open side by side, this is one sweet screen.

Maybe for Christmas I'll grab one of those 30" Dell monitors. The Apple equivalent is nice and big Smile

/I seem to have stuck with the 20.5" Dell Ultrasharps on my desk.

Funny, one of my excuses for getting the blackberry was so I could read scripts if I had to. It's worked in a pinch but not something I want to use long-term.

Haven't used paper in years. My 19" monitor is just the right size for home but I must say I like the EEEpc. Small and light enough to take anywhere - but definitely need the reading glasses for that 8.5 inch screen.

agreed... it's almost too small. Or at least, it's too small for me, I could barely use the damn keyboard. I think the 10" variant is probably the way to go for me Wink
