This high issue is interesting.
In the days of Vinyl the Mastering Engineer would have to compensate for loss of Hi Freq as the tone arm played inward. Because the speed of the disk relevant to the stylus was slower, the engineer would crank up the highs.
With 2", 1", 1/2" and 1/4" the speed of tape relevant to the playback head was constant so no compensation was needed. Thirty inches per second across the heads was, I think, the highest speed use in audio recording. At that rate the analogue quality was super good.
The RIAA curve for vinyl play back was use to help compensate for this adjustment in frequency response. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"
