Do we REALLY believe that given the "right" read, interpretation, opinion, and/or persona, they are not going to cast someone because of their slate? C'mon! Seriously, guys.

Unfortunately, yes. It's a subconscious thing. The casting director won't be saying "That slate sucked," they'll just think, "There's something I didn't like about that guy."

The following is applicable to the majority of audition requests

If auditions arrive via email and you use a programme like Outlook, while the audition item is highlighted on your list of "inbox" items press the delete key once.

Back in high school, I remember there was a girl that I wanted so bad to like me. No matter what I did, she just didn't. Was it my name? Was it my height? Was it my slate Wink ? It doesn't matter - she either was going to like me or not - and I realized that when it comes to someone liking you that is beyond your control.

I can hear it right away when a vo wants to be liked... there is a "wanting to prove" in their read... in their persona... it's even in their slate. Now that I wouldn't like.

btw - i enjoy your work, Kate. (There I go again)

Inoccent

Those footballers were too lolo for me.

Actually, most young men spurned me completely in high school.

I understand your pain. Being a theater geek didn't exactly make me a chick magnet.

Neither did being a band student. Although, being a drummer was just cool in it's own right cool

I was quite often backstage (not by choice) because I was the only kid who had sound equipment and knew how to run it.

I tried to be as enigmatic as possible and did little to nothing about the crushes I had. Instead of dealing with high school, I just retreated into music and my guitar for four years. I was a little surprised at my 20th reunion by the women that came up to me and had some story about me or mentioned having liked me back in the day. Even some of my grade school crushes spoke to me for the first time in 25-30 years.

Case in point: You just never know what you never knew.

I have got to try to teach my kids that it's ok to take the chance.

Why, thank you kindly, ma'am. Smile That was almost good enough for Yogi Berra.

Almost...
