Also, I hate to burst your bubble, but from the inventive minds of Dayton, Ohio (more patents per capita than any other city) comes transparent armor. |

OK - finished. No punched aluminum - but other that that - pretty close. I haven't had time to test it yet - probably tonight.

Really cool. You did a great job. I do have a question about these. Where do you put the script? (please be kind with your answer ) |

Good job! How is held in place? Can't wait to hear the difference.
Was it fun enough to build that if we offered to pay you to do more--you would? _________________ Wild Willie Edwards

I did have to beef up the springs on my boom to hold it up.

1.5" gash in left ring finger + spray adhesive + wool fibers in said gash + Goo-Be-Gone = No.
I would, however, send pics of the process if you want them.[/i] _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Here is the test audio. PLEASE let me know what you hear. I have grown too close to the project and need outside input.
1st read is with, 2nd without

Todd,
To my in-no-way-technician's ears, the "with" reading has much less "room" and reflection than does the second "without" reading. _________________ Be well,

I thought I could hear an improvement in the 1st compared to the 2nd. I ran both through a compression filter (5:1) to help me hear the "life" in each. There does seem to be slightly more in the 2nd clip.
Here's the compressed version:

Bob-
I got your reference. It seems we are sympatico in the world of trekkie's. Just talk to the computer through the little mouse thing. We'll have to have a discourse on which captain was the best in Vegas. IMHO, you can threadjack anytime with a trek reference! _________________ Pam Tierney

BTW, "transparent aluminum" has been created.
Look up "Nanophase Aluminum", or "Aluminum Oxynitride".

I'm getting the same thing here. Of the two I preferred the second due to the loss of "life" that others have mentioned. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Yes, I have decided that the filter deadens the audio too much. It may see life in another room - or I'll experiment with different placement - maybe farther back. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Does anyone know if the se Electronics filter works better than Harlan's traveling sound box? I've got that set up with the Studio Projects C1 and the Tapco link, and I'm not happy with the sound quality. I've got Sweetwater checking with the company to see if it will work with a desktop mic stand, but I have my doubts as the weight is 8 lbs. _________________ Enjoy life, this is not a rehearsal.

My guess, based on my experience with the forgery, is that it will be too heavy for a table-top mic stand. You could always prop it up on Gideons Bible in the hotel room, though. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis
