bobsouer wrote: | TC, I think Brian and Ben have nailed the answer to your question. If you need to do ISDN/phone patch sessions often enough, invest in a sound booth that will eliminate the vast majority of those issues. I've had this come up a time or 3 in a session. I usually mention as the interruption starts what's happening and how many seconds/minutes I estimate it will take before we can get back to work. But, I live in a quiet subdivision well away from fire stations and train tracks so I don't have to deal with a lot of the issues you mention. |
Hmm... I guess I lost track of this thread. All this advice for me that I don't remember reading in November...
Anyway... Actually, Bob, you're the one who has nailed the answer for me, more or less. I've already got as soundproof a setup as I can reasonably expect to have (Whisper Room). There's no way to make it any more soundproof than it is, and nothing is going to protect my sessions from a fire engine siren that starts up within about 150 feet of my mic. For reasons too long and boring to relate here, I can't move somewhere quieter anytime in the near future, so I just have to find a way to finesse my way around such interruptions. But because that fire engine is always in a big hurry, I can, like you, estimate when the noise will go away, and that's always less than a minute, easily. I suppose that won't be too painful for most clients.
Thanks for sharing your own experience with me. It helps. |

Philip,
I see Frank has already answered this question.
By the way, I'd be happy to burn $50 sometime, if you'd like to test a bridging connection through Digifon. Just to see how it sounds. _________________ Be well,
