As Eddie stated, use the VST in AA to get the best results.

If using SC Desktop, start it first, then start AA, try recording in AA. It should not matter whether or not SC is connected to another SC link. Just make sure AA, SC, and Mia are set to the same sample rate (48 kHz, 44.1, etc.)

If on SC desktop only - use it's recording product. Test before connecting and listen to a sample in AA or another audio player to see if it crackles. If it does, see the last line of the previous paragraph.

Personally, I like to record in a separate program, for confidence reasons, but that may require techniques or patches. Try recording, you may be surprised with the results although you will likely get only your side of the conversation (which is what the client wants anyway).

I just set SC up for someone running Windows Vista 32bit, using AA 1.5 and a Focusrite Sapphire USB, as well as SEDesktop. Other than the fact that she couldn't monitor the return from the Sapphire, only the PC's built-in sound (for reasons I blame on poor audio drivers under Vista), it worked without a single crackle. We could even record the session simultaneously. I was amazed it worked...

What was the internet speed George? Connie's "crackle" situation was resolved with a higher speed internet both up and down (minimum 512 kbps u/d for Source Connect)

Although the Sapphire drivers are a pain, it is possible to re-route the input/output to the on-board sound card. Upgrade to 3.0 and the monitoring may be done in AA rather than the sound card (of "almost" any variety). The key is monitoring the time line while "recording".

Most real-time VST capable editors can do this simple monitoring fix. AA 1.5, Sony Sound Forge, or Sony Acid Pro are not real-time VST capable editors. Although there are some workarounds.

Session went well - sort of.. Other side lost me a couple of times for some reason. We never lost the connection, but he did have to redo a few times.

Bottom line for me is that client seemed happy. We did 3 base spots with 2 localizers each and got done in less than an hour even with the drops.
