As I understand it, the quality of converters nowadays is superior to those of 5 or 10 years ago.
I/we understand that the quality of preamps on an interface will vary greatly with the price.
But if we already have good preamps and we are looking for a deviice that is ONLY a converter-interface what are some good-enough-for-voicework quality USB converters inexpensively to reasonably priced? |

The only stand alone interface I know of, under $1000, is the Echo AudioFire2.
Anything below $1000 is pretty much Prosumer quality, and for this market you can get good results. And to improve the sound quality of these devices record at 24bit - which everyone should be doing anyway.
If you're on a budget you need to work harder at getting better sound. This has always been the case. You learn the tricks to get better audio, then when you've pushed your gear to its maximum then you start looking for better gear. That's how I learned and that's how most every engineer I know has learned. Step by step. _________________ The Blog:

Acoustics are counter-intuitive. If one thing is certain about acoustics, it is that if anything seems obvious it is probably wrong. |
