I use the Sound Devices USBPre. It's pricey, but built like a tank and sounds very good!

Well said. It's $150. What more do you want? I think some perspective is needed here for what this thing does at this price, and how well it does it. It's not flawless, but neither is the Apogee One at almost 2x the price.
The X2u is OK, but the dials are a PITA without calibration marks.
