Excellent! If you got one of the last 10v models, you can hackintosh them very easily. I did one for a friend, worked like a charm.
I would NEVER run a virus scanner while do recording, no matter how powerful the PC. That is seriously asking for trouble. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

These are the instructions I followed. The part that took the longest was putting the installer on the USB flash drive. It's easy if you are geeky enough to actually want a Dell Mini 10v running Mac OS. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

The big advantage to running a Mac OS is the luxury of not having virus and security issues and being able to plug audio hardware into a USB or Firewire port and have it work....I have to go thru every usb port for my audio hardware on my Dell Mini before I can find one that works.....ridiculous.
However, since there's isn't a whole lot of horsepower on the Dell mini, the only audio a you're going to be able to run is Twisted Wave, or Garageband or Amadeus. |

Hi all
Back from Spain now; the Mini 10 and the micport pro are a big hit. I coupled it with my MKH 416. If you need a quiet laptop for the road I can give the Dell a big thumbs up. I sited it right below the mic and there was zero fan noise - just the odd tiny click from the hard drive which honestly didn't register.
Your biggest challenge on the road is acoustics. I got results that were "fair" but wish I had done better. Bit boxy. No substitute for a good room is there? Next time I'll experiment far more with mic placement.

ok, I've come up with a weird issue with my dell mini 10v/audition 1.5/mic port setup
I've rigged up a small set of powered computer speakers through the audio output of the netbook to playback recordings as an alternative to using headphones. there's no problem setting it up in Audition to work, but when I play back the audio I get all kinds of noise and artifacts through the onboard sound card on the Netbook.
When I route the speakers out of the headphone jack on the MicPort, the audio plays back crystal clear. no artifacts and noise whatsoever. Only problem now is I had to get an erzatz y - mini female jack out of the Micport to run both speakers for playback and headphones for monitoring while recording...pain in the dairy air....
I was wondering if anyone had any other possible solutions to this dilemna |

Possibly a conflict with the mic port pro when you're trying to use both outputs? |

I just think it's a cheap $5 soundcard in an inexpensive laptop that is picking up interference for the mic port, or radio transmissions from China...who knows.... |
