Lemmy “Car spot” Tulane was 19 when he joined K-ICU2 but even at that tender age everyone knew there was a big voice talent just waiting to get out. I only discovered the story of the great man 5 years after his death in 1997 and again in 2003. Near the end he was 5ft and weighed in at 280lb so when anyone was near his end they really knew about it. His love of pulses and spinach meant that being near his end was a dangerous place. Lemmy had blown many a Dachshund out for an early morning walk into traffic. A true gentleman and aspiring circus clown he was always able to fashion a replica out of balloons. Highly entertaining and saved a fortune in law suits.
But what of that amazing voice? My hero was able to squeeze 40 seconds into 30, 83 seconds into 60 and lose none of the meaning. Chrysler, Dodge and DeLorean all benefited from the Tulane magic, except for DeLorean which was the product of a tortured mind (the car not the commercials).
“Lemmy, gimme your V8 read” director Nairn Forres would ask and sure enough the low growl would start, no verbs in the copy but every word was high octane. With too much compression some commercials were felt in the diaphragm before they were heard, some ladies said his delivery caused them to slip and result in unwanted pregnancies.
At age 20 Lemmy voiced his first spot and post session squeezed several more. At the peak of his career he was recording so many spots that during a morning air shift for K-ICU2 he sold himself by mistake for $13,995 with no deposit and interest free over 3 years. Between 1978 and 1981 lawyer Keith Huntly commuted to his office daily on Lemmy. He eventually traded him in for a News Anchor from Santa Anna.
The next time you step up to the mic and are expected to deliver an over written car spot, think of Lemmy and growl, you know you can. |

I looked it up. While the word may not exist in your dictionary, plenty of synonyms do, therefore proving its nonimperminence in the English lanquage:
Synonyms for invalueless: indespicable, inignoble, noninconsequential, disineffecacious, and disuseless
Plus to unprove nonexistence you need antonyms such as: disunimportant, disuseless, indispensible
And to take it to an ethereal plane of relevance there is the antiantonym: nonindispensible

Uh oh! There are rules? (Rifles through pile of mail-- mostly Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons.) I don't think I ever got the rules.
