A national ad (I think it was Kay jewelers) in which the VO said "jew-ler-y". Does the director not know or not care?(That's a rhetorical question.)

Yeah, well if you like that, you'll love this: Friday night I heard a character on Las Vegas say that he'd always wanted to bid with "reckless abandonment" |

Reminds me of an ad that runs year round here in the Houston market...and the vo says "jur-ee" I cringe every time I hear it. So there is at least another director/client that doesn't give a rip. I'm convinced the vo must be the owners brother-in-law or some such nepotism...no other way to explain it. _________________ . Jew-ler-y
Rea-luh-ter
meh.
Just dumb. It's not like it's a "regionalism" because it's not even spelled that way.
Compare with OFTEN:
it's OK as
OFF-en
or OFF-ten
Jew-ler-y and rea-luh-ter are just plain ignorant. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

On a different, but loosely-related matter... if I hear "safety deposit box" one more time, someone's going to get hurt.

I have those all beat... I worked with guy (not in VO thank goodness)
that thought he was the end all and he would just tear up words that made me and my ex-boss just laugh until the cows came home. Here are some examples and these are no stretch...
incumbent weather = inclement weather
concensus = census
shiads = Shi'ites
devil's food eggs = deviled eggs
liverace = Liberace
These are just a few of many.

I liked the dental surgeon's assitant who told me that a tea bag could help with post-wisdom tooth removal bleeding because of the Titanic Acid. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

A member of my family tells of seeing a woman come to the ER for complications from "fireballs of the eucharist".
Think about it and report back. |
