Thanks Bob--That's a fine use of ipDTL--You make your own bridge. So the ipDTL isn't really involved at the client end--They instigate an ISDN session and there you are. So that's what Joe meant by saying it was an easier bridge to ISDN than SC-No ports, iLok's, etc.

So now I just need to convince my buddy with ISDN to let me bridge to his studio on IPDTL so I can have ISDN in my studio. We can split the cost.

I've rigged Zephyr Xstream's digital in/out to a Mac Mini's using a Hosa ODL312 adapter, works brilliant for self-bridging. IPDTL is least expensive bridge to ISDN solution I've see to date that performs this well. Very interested to see how Source Connect NOW (soon) compares.

Bob,
Would you be willing to draw a quick diagram in MS Paint of how you have your cables connected to your mixer? That would be super helpful. I've got cables everywhere but can't seem to figure out how to route them so the client audio comes through the board, but doesn't go back out the main mix to the Zephyr creating a slap-back.

On second thought, I bet you are sending your audio from your mixer to ISDN via an AUX 1 or 2 output, right? I think that would fix my issue.

So very cool Bob, thank you for figuring that out.

Jason - I'm in the same boat as you. I have ISDN access at Doppler Studios in Atlanta fifteen minutes from my house, and I've told them about ipDTL and they're keen on it. It would be extra-sweet if Doppler and I could just bridge in like that at any time, and yes I'd totally share the costs with them.

However, with the Link + account/URL that I have, anybody with Chrome can connect to my studio.

That might not be a bad interim business. You could set up a computer dedicated to bridging to an ISDN box, then just do the same thing that Source Connect to ISDN bridgers are doing. Schedule it out and charge per hour.

Hmmmm. Maybe ISDN should actually be in my future. I could easily set up a stand alone system that was dedicated to ISDN bridging to IPDTL, and I wouldn't have to develop any software....just have IPDTL and ISDN. If nothing else, I might be able to at least justify getting ISDN. And that alone could open a door or two.

Joe,

Audio feed goes to my ipDTL computer from AUX 1 and return comes back to a channel on my mixer. Audio from my mixer goes to my ISDN box from my ALT 3/4 send and returns to a different channel.

So, audio from my ipDTL computer goes to the ISDN box via the ALT 3/4 send. Audio from my ISDN box goes back to the ipDTL computer via AUX 1. Since the channel with audio from the ipDTL computer has to be "muted" to send to the ALT 3/4 send, there's no danger of any feedback.

I hope that makes sense.

It's simple, Kristin:

ISDN(+_%^IPDTL/34?ALT?AUX781*$07^~0?+ voicetalk&4/96510=-(&*ALTMUTE?BRIDGE

ie.

Sounds good= Is Good
