I agreed to do an After Dinner Speech in Aberdeen. The event took place last night. The ladies, about 80 of them, post dinner wanted to talk among themselves about "stuff". How interested were they in voiceover work? Not in the least, like most real people.
Even I wanted to hear about Lisa's daughter who doesn't eat properly but her grand kids happily munch away on broccoli, Marilyn's new kitchen nightmare "HOW MANY WEEKS!" and how broadband in Banff sucks Monkey Butt! I was able to see with my own eyes as diners either side of me hacked and sawed away that the Chicken SO was tough, my salad FABBY!
One of the assembled members, some were not able to assemble due to too much chicken and wine, was asked to give a message of thanks to the guest speaker, me.
"Thank you Daniel! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that of all the speakers we've had here you are the most recent and we all wish you a tiresome and hazardous journey back to Port where ever. In terms of being riveting you come second only to Geoff and his slide show, My Skin Infections since 1974,"
Someone stood and started an applaud but was wrestled to the ground and beaten by two members of the committee. |

Now was this the event where you played your "unscrew the knob" session?

I might have expected a truly different reaction from 80 women.
