Using a dbx286a here. It's great. I don't use any of the processing functions on my Senn MKH416...if I process anything (rarely), it's post.

I use a GML 2032 and love it!

For travel, I just bought a Sound Devices USBPre that sounds VERY good!

The Ultralite, however, can function as a stand-alone pre-amp/interface and I've been using it more lately, and honestly, think it sounds pretty good without running the mic thru the 737....?

I am going to correct myself on this one. After A/Bing the two closely, I have to say the Avalon does have a certain quality that is very nice.

The Ultralite is, however, a decent stand-in in a pinch or for mobile recording.

I use a 737 sans EQ or compression. Sounds great but I've got to crank the gain with my NTK running into it. I'm on the fence over whether to swap the NTK's tube or try a different mic.

Don't know what your set-up is Tom, but I simply increase the input level of the 737 into my MOTU Ultralite. That way I don't have to ride the gain too high on the 737.

I also don't do any compression or EQ, with the exception of possibly the "Compander" compression setting in Adobe Audition, mainly for auditions.

Using the ART Project Series USB Tube MP

The USB is great and requires no drivers to use.
I just wish it had its own headphone jack.

What's all this tube replacement talk?
Just for the Tube MP Gold?

Behringer Xenyx1204fx board's preamps (about $150)

I was using an Art MP Studio V3 and the pot became scratchy and noisey. I got the Xenyx for a good price and it has Behringer calls "Boutique" pre-amps. It is a nice warm sound. I run that into my Mackie Spike A-D- converter bypassing its pre-amp.

Bob, chocolate!!!

I've been using a Symetrix 528e. I bought an Edirol UA-25 to replace a presonus a few months back because I was having firewire problems with the new computer. Anyway, up to now I've gone from the 528e to the Edirol to the computer. This morning I bypassed the 528e and went directly through the UA-25. I'm somewhat shocked how nice the UA-25 sounds all by itself.

Any other experiences with the Symetrix anyone?

Craig

I bought a UA1 and a U87, UB802 and onboard is an M-Audio Delta. I tried bypassing everything and couldn't hear diddly squat.

My mic is original. It's had the innards replaced twice and the case replaced once.
