James, at first I did. But, as it learned, I've had to check less and less. Most of my legitimate commenters don't get shoved into the spam folder anymore.

But, occasionally,I check in and have to wade through all kinds of come-ons for stuff that is pretty disgusting. It's a relief to blow it all away.

Hey,
I was using 'Add This' for a while, but it just seemed easier to switch to straight Feedburner.
For those on Blogger (and without any dedicated online storage), you can get great media embedding features through Humyo.com. Similar to divshare and esnips, but 30GB online storage for free, and GREAT embedding options.

Hopefully it sticks around...

James,

Thanks for doing this from the start. Great initiative!

DB, thanks for allowing it.

Stu, I consider myself a never-give-up computer semi-expert. I tried WordPress.com and WordPress.org. I even bought the book and spent countless hours on it. 'Too much CSS programming involved. Maybe it's changed with the new THESIS templates, but I just finally threw up my hands.

I liked GoDaddy's blog interface, but they had limited customization.

I finally found my satisfaction with TypePad. LOVE IT! Great help files. Constant helpful upgrades. The interface makes sense. They listen to suggestions. Good internal tracking software...nicely affordable....tons of widgets.

I don't get spam...TypePad takes care of it. 'Never have to use Akismet.

Been kinda quiet in here.

I'll go first. I've been making an effort to use my morning blog time to stumble and comment.

Anyone notice an impact?

Awww... my feelings are hurt... my blog was left off the list (and I was on that original email).

http://blog.carynclark.net/

Thanks!

OH, BTW... if you have a Google blog, I can't comment on those. For some reason I cannot recall my username and pw, and have tried to get them, etc.... it's a big PITA. So I read 'em but cannot make comments.

No I feel ya Caryn. Depending on the blog, I've given up on my Google ID, and just do Name/URL if they'll let me.

LOL! Not what I was getting at, but thanks.
The original idea behind the email chain was creating more of a blogging community, and now that we're a little outside of VOICE, I thought I'd check in to see what people's experiences have been.

I check in to most of your blogs most days, and comment when there's something to add. I love the totally different "takes" on life and VO that you all bring to the table, and it's also great to read all of your tips and tricks...thank you!

James, could you add my blog, please?

Sorry to have missed adding your blog Caryn. Yours and Sandy's are now on the list. Just got back from beautiful, but unfortunately rainy, Germany (Berlin and Munich) I have some catching up to do!

I've been commenting but have to make a more concerted effort to Digg or Stumble some of my favorites. No noticable increase in overall traffic but I do see an increase in links back to my blog when I comment on others.

If anyone wants additional info (mybloglog, blogcatalog, etc>) post 'em here.

What do you guys think of Twitter? I see a few use it, is there any real benefit? That one still seems a bit odd to me.

Ohhh.... James.... that sounds like a great trip, even if it was rainy. I've always wanted to visit Germany. Someday...

Hey all!

Awfully quiet here. I've been out of the loop for the past few weeks with family medical issues.

Any blogging updates?

If I may be permitted to toot a little horn of my own...

I am the founder/host of The Voice Actor Appreciation Society on Yahoo Groups and Facebook. Although I've never actively promoted it, The VAAS has over 500 members since it started in 2000.

I also offer some group features which are posted/updated semi-regularly:
- Calendar of events, appearances, birthdays, and other notable dates related to voice actors.
- Web directory of upcoming VA-related events and appearances.

Of course the members of this community here are more than welcome to join and share in the discussion or just lurk like I do most of the time on this forum.

And the voice actors newsletter that I've been self-publishing since 1999 (originally an exclusive to the Yahoo Group) has been relaunched as a daily blog: http://voiceactors.wordpress.com/
